PAINTINGS

Initially my installations are a vehicle to ignite ideas for my oil paintings. Borrowing subject matter from my installations enables me to explore the space further. I document my installation using photography and video. The photographs equip me with a variety of visual stimulus which in turn generates ideas for making my oil paintings.

As my paintings evolve intuition and sensibilities become the overall driving force behind the success of my work. When painting there is some commitment to the photographs but the application of paint dominates, changing the original image and making it more expressive.
