INSTALLATIONS
Making installations came to me by accident. The idea was related to my concept of a home through its interior structure and its possessions. Commonly each room serves a different purpose and contains the objects supporting the function of that room. Objects found in these domestic settings are integrated into the installations; they also inspire aesthetic decisions during their construction.
When first discovering installation art I wanted
to create an area in my studio that was separate from the rest of
my space; somewhere to showcase my assemblages, textiles, ceramics,
paintings, and collections. The challenge is to collect, alter and
then arrange these objects in relationship to one another so they
can exist coherently; producing harmony, balance, and unity. The
installation was directly related to the concept of a living room
which traditionally showcases your best furniture and collections;
almost like one large china cabinet. |
